Event Description

Join Logan Perkins of Food For Maine's Future for a slide show and discussion on Food Sovereignty. La Via Campesina is an international peasants and subsistence farmers movement for food sovereignty, fair trade and peasants rights. Hear about this vibrant social movement and see pictures from the Fifth International Conference for Food Sovereignty which took place last October in Mozambique. Come learn about how small farmers all over the world are working to build local food systems, and how this relates to similar work happening in Maine.

This free event is sponsored by the Belfast Free Library and the Belfast Co-op as part of the March Eat Local Challenge.
For more information call Fran Clemetson at 338-2532 or visit the Belfast Co-op website at www.belfast.coop/blog.
