A New Year
Today brings a brand new year with the shivering sunshine peeking above the horizon. What will 2009 bring for all? Exactly what you want it to. Businesses have a chance to really shine this year after a less than stellar 2008. A chance to lead the pack and do something really great with your business. As business owners we have the real ability to affect environmental and social change and make 2009 a banner year for green businesses going forward.
Start with the small steps. Change your light bulbs, caulk up the window seals, fix the drafty doors. If you've done all that, insulate that ceiling in the basement you've been meaning to insulate for the past 6 months, or the cold concrete walls radiating coldness. Whatever can be done, do it. So many people think that "What is changing a silly lightbulb going to do for the big picture anyways? I'm just one person". One person doing one thing, multiplied out over millions of people doing that one thing can make the hugest of impacts.
We can't sit on our laurels any longer. We've got a clean slate starting today. Make those changes in your business to ensure others benefit from what you do. There are always ways to make that happen, no matter the business.
