Other info about Me (please mention any food, fishing, agriculture, or community groups you are affiliated with):
I grew up in Greater Portland. My interest in food didn't begin until I worked as an editor for Gourmet News, a Maine-based trade publication for the specialty foods industry. That was in the early 90s, just as the gourmet foods stores increasingly carried natural and organic lines and health food stores segued to upscale items.
As a writer specializing in Maine and travel, food is part of my beat. I'm author of three Maine guidebooks, Moon Maine, Moon Coastal Maine, and Moon Acadia National Park. In each, I go well beyond the usual restaurant listings to include farm stores, farm markets, and farms that I think will intrigue my readers.
I also write about food-related travel for various magazines and newspapers. And I often post Maine food-related items, from special restaurant dinners to culinary events, on my blog.

I just opened a bottle of Fiddler's Reach mead (from Bath) that I got at the Good Tern Co-op in Rockland. Yum! I am looking for a mead recipe. Any advice? My next project is going to be elderberry wine which I understand is a great defense against...
Just brewed two batches last weekend. One was a five gallon batch with the addition of raspberry puree (was meant for a raspberry lambic, but oh well!) and the other was about a gallon and a half of a blueberry ginger mead. I can't WAIT to try the...
