Stonington
What issues are you and/or your group interested or expert in?
farmland protection, farm to school, home gardens, farm to institution, farm to restaurant, CSAs, farmers' markets, local foods marketing and distribution, GM-free seeds and genetics
If you produce foods of some sort, please choose one of the following:
I produce foods only for my own and my family's consumption
Other info about Me (please mention any food, fishing, agriculture, or community groups you are affiliated with):
I am the executive director of the Maine Biotechnology Information Bureau. We work with Maine farmers who believe that biotech-enhanced crops should be available to farmers who wish to plant them. Maine BioInfo receives financial support from industry organizations and companies who develop and market biotech crops. I am also a backyard gardener and am a strong supporter of efforts to encourage local purchases, including food. As the former head of our town's economic development committee I helped find a home for the farmer's market in Stonington and started a buy local campaign.
