We now produce enough produce so we can share with others in the community. We do this through the local food bank in cooperation with Morris Farm and Ames Hardware, both of which are in Wiscasset. We hope to use this effort as a way of educating all about local food. We drop off food on Thursdays and hang out with recipients and share where the produce has come from and how it is grown and sharing stories and having great fellowship.

End of Partners in Ending Hunger

Can we have a moment of silence for the dissolution of Partners for Ending Hunger? An important organization in getting food to all. We need to be looking at a replacement and/or a new effort.Local foos is an important piece of having all fed in our society.

Perhaps a Food Security Policy Council here in Maine.

We are starting in Wiscasset a local food distribution system that will get fresh fruits and vegetables into the hands of less fortunate people. Cooperative efffort on the part of Morris farm, Ames Hardware, local food bank, a church or two and some local farmers and private gardeners. Already have sent fresh produce and tomato plants to the Food Bank at St Phillips Church.

Hope this effort will provide educational endeavors and perhaps develop into a local food system that will reach all in our society. Will keep you informed as to progress.

Any in the Wiscasset area interested, send email to delketcham@yahoo.com

Peace,

Del, welcome! I have to tell you, as I have been "imagining" you, I imagined someone in their thirties. . . I am looking forward to meeting you on Monday, and for full disclosure, I am 56; my husband is 62. I haven't lived in the South since 1970, and I am quite curious what brings you to Maine. And it is a great community. We have had a very full three years since moving here. Dianne
