I am the Downeast Initiative Project Director, with Penobscot East Resource Center. The Downeast Initiative advocates for area management of groundfish (cod, haddock, hake, pollock, flounder, etc.) as a way to sustain fish and fishing communities in eastern Maine.
Penobscot East is working with local fishermen, the Midcoast Fishermen's Association, Island Institute, Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance, Howdy Houghton, and others to start one or more Community Supported Fisheries programs, in Stonington and on Mount Desert Island.
