Local Foods Outreach/Marketing Intern Position - Greater Portland

Build your local foods resume.

Our local farm and food organization is in its second year and is developing a new web site to accompany active email outreach and events initiatives. The goals are to raise awareness about local farms and food, contribute to more consumer purchases with our local members, and continue to ensure that the area remains farm and food "friendly."

The intern position is unpaid and can start as soon as May 1st and could last through to Thanksgiving (but we are flexible with the dates). It will be for approximately 5-10 hours per week, partly from your own home, partly in Cape Elizabeth and under the supervision of two marketing professionals. Apply your passion for local foods while applying your existing or new "marketing" skills to activities such as populating and updating the new web site, monitoring site traffic, assisting with the development of outreach and marketing ideas, assisting with planning and managing events that support our mission.

Extremely web savvy but html not strictly required. Social networking experience and e-newsletter experience helpful. Some outreach or marketing experience helpful.

Send an email explaining why you are interested in this internship to Lisa at hibernia (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Good Day,
This opportunity speaks directly to me. I am a 25 year old Greater Portlandian who is a newcomer to the local food movement. Having always been focused on fresh and good food, the element of locavore is the key piece to having a greater effect on the community. My greatest interest in the marketing aspect is not only awareness of availability to local food, but also to educate about the frugality of local eating. I am super savvy with online searching/networking/emailing and able in website management (no html) and looking to be more active in the local food promotion business.
Thanks for the opportunity to tell you more!

Hello and Greetings. My name is Andrew Leadley, and I was just recently recommended to check the Eat Maine Foods! website out. I saw this posting for an internship and was wondering if you would be offering this or any other internships again in the future? From the sounds of it this is just the kind of experience I would love to gain!

Thanks,

Andrew
