Distribution Locations for Producers

Looking for locations that could host CSA/CSF distributions this winter/summer. This discussion started as a way to find a Portland venue for a local mussel harvester to do CSF drop offs, but has grown to encompass CSAs as well. Please use this forum to post your needs as well as to share suggestions about distribution locations.

Also a fisherman who needs a distribution spot. The fish CSF will likely be Friday's in July and August from 10-noon. The mussels could be Wednesdays and/or Fridays from noonish to 2pm or so, starting asap. Both have licensed refridgerated trucks to work from.

I would love to include a CSF option to my CSA customers at the farm. Let me know if what to do next to market it and co-ordinate the program for my customers.

This is a serious problem that extends well beyond the CSF community. We are a CSA vegetable farm located in Freeport who is also looking for a location to use as a drop point for the Portland area. The farmers markets work well for CSA farms who can get into them, but there are waiting lists for all the Portland farmers markets and the times of those markets are not convenient for many of our CSA customers. Perhaps the CSF people and those of us trying to coordinate vegetable CSA drop points in Portland should get together and contact the City of Portland for possible location suggestions for drop points. Perhaps Broadturn Farm, Jordan Farm, or other Portland business interested in helping to get local food to the people who want it would be willing to allow CSA/CSF drops at their farms, parling lots, or warehouses.

Grange Halls exist in most towns, and Portland: North Deering on Washington st across from Quaker Meeting House (outer Portland) as well as one on Forest, the Presumpscot Grange Hall. These organizations are desperate for new members, and the agricultural connection is a perfect fit.
