Does anyone know when the official opening of the Deering Oaks Park sat market is in Portland?

It has already been open for two Saturdays with lots of seedlings, flowers, and some early veggies including fiddleheads and asparagus!

Does the Portland Farmers Market have a web site? If it doesn't, it should.

It doesn't have a website. However, there was some recent talk on the Portland Slow Food email group about helping the farmers start one. Here's what I have for info about the market:

Summer Farmers' Market
April-November
Wednesday, 7 am-2 pm
Monument Square

May-November
Saturday, 7 am-noon
Deering Oaks Park

Winter Farmers' Market
closed for the season
December - March
Takes place every other Wednesday in Monument Square. Orders taken via email.

I am part of the Portland Food Co-op and a website developer that is working to focus on food and farm clients effective immediately. If anyone would like to connect me with whoever is in charge at the farmers market, I would love to help make it happen. 319-7465

Larry Burns of Hanson Field Flower Farm is the market organizer for the Portland Farmers' Market. His phone is 883-5750.

And here's a link to my dispatches from the market (includes info about signing-up for the winter market): http://www.mainetoday.com/blogs/inasnap/cat_portland_farmers_market...

Hope this helps!

Thanks for posting Laura. What's the best way for Portland people to support this? If we subscribe could we get our shrimp through Crown of Maine delivery (to the buying clubs?) perhaps?
