Eat Maine Foods!

We still have squash, garlic, bags of mixed vegetables (frozen), sauerkraut and some Maine sausage in our chest freezer.

My husband and I just used the last of our lobster. We have our recreational lobstering license and froze lobster we caught last summer...I purchase items at the Granite Farms indoor Winter Farmers Market (Saturdays 9-12). Last weekend I purchased some great local eggs as well as some tomatoes. I also canned my own dilly beans, and still have them in the basement.

we're still eating strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cabbage, squash and I think we have ! whole frozen chicken from last season. we're waiting for our fedco seed order to arrive so we can start planting tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, etc... our chickens are giving us about 5-8 eggs a day. i can't wait to start growing this season.

In addition to the dried herbs and vegetables in the freezer and canning jars, I have something new this year...rhubarb concentrate. We love it, just mix with water and it tastes like lemonade without all the sugar.

I just bought potatoes, first veggie since last July purchased! I am so proud.

We still have carrots, squash, rutabagas and onions, canned; tomatoes, beans, salsa, pickles and jam and frozen; corn, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, peas, peppers, squash soup and eggplant chowder.

And what is most awesome? I haven't bought eggs since January. Our little flock of chickens started laying in February. I thought it was early and then, oh yeah, the coop is in the greenhouse so they get all that light.

Goal: Enough food to last at least 4 more months this year, meaning I want enough to last till July of 2010. We are feeding a family of 4. I think I can do it!
